CNG in Sonepat from August

Vol 14, PW 2 (15 Jul 10) News in Brief

GAIL Gas has now set August as its target to open the first CNG station at Sonepat town in Haryana.

GAIL Gas tells PETROWATCH another station will be added by next March and each of these should sell around 15,000 kg/day of CNG. Yet another two proposed stations should begin selling CNG by March 2012.

Separately, GAIL Gas began selling 1000 cm/d of piped gas this April to Sonepat-based factory Toyo Springs which manufactures springs and other mechanical products. Confectionary factory HPAG in Sonepat is expected to begin receiving 500cm/d to 1000 cm/d of piped gas supplies starting next week.

“Both are small factories,” says GAIL Gas. “But they’re our first long-term industrial customers in Sonepat.

” GAIL Gas gets supplies from GAIL’s ‘trunk’ gas pipeline network. It plans to roll out full supplies by October when an upcoming pipeline from Dadri in Uttar Pradesh to Nangal in Punjab and also passing through Bawana near Delhi, will be ready.
