Vol 9, PW 7 (14 Jul 05) News in Brief

Petronet-LNG has despatched Request for Proposal documents for three additional LNG tankers by the deadline of 30th June.

Two tankers of 154,000 cubic metres capacity are needed for Dahej and one tanker of 165,000 cubic metres capacity is needed for the proposed LNG terminal at Kochi. Petronet-LNG expects to receive the completed RFP documents from shortlisted consortia by mid-August and contracts should be signed in October.

Petronet-LNG wants the first of its two tankers for Dahej between June and September 2008 and the second tanker during the same period in 2009. The lone tanker for Kochi should be ready in early 2009.

Capacity at Dahej is being doubled to 10m t/y and plans are moving ahead to construct a new 2.5m t/y LNG terminal at Kochi. Petronet-LNG tankers Rahi and Disha are already supplying 5m t/y to Dahej from RasGas.

Additional LNG for Dahej and Kochi is expected from Qatar and from Iran.
