Lots of feedback for gas regulator

You can’t beat the gas regulator for transparency! PETROWATCH learns its decision to invite companies to submit Expressions of Interest for CGD networks across India has generated enough feedback from the public to fill three boxes! “These are now being processed,â€‌ reports a source.

“The Board will make a decision soon.â€‌ Members of the public or rival companies were given 30 days to respond to any company EoI for a CGD network in India.

By June 24, GAIL had submitted EoIs for Mathura, Jhansi, Kota, Dewas and Sonepat. By June 28, Reliance had submitted EoIs for 52 cities, many of them with existing players.

“Just because Reliance has sent in EoIs for 52 cities doesn’t mean it can have all these cities,â€‌ adds a source. “Companies already running CGD networks can oppose Reliance’s entry and so can consumer groups.

â€‌ After considering the comments, the Board will decide if a city is ready to have a CGD business before offered it for open bidding.
