Kelkar wants more to apply for ONGC post

Vol 10, PW 25 (19 Apr 07) News in Brief

Twenty-two (22) candidates have been short listed by the Public Enterprises Selection Board for interview for the high-profile job of CMD at ONGC.

PETROWATCH learns that as on 18th April, no date had been fixed for the interviews. A well-placed source tells us the reason for this is because Dr.

Vijay Kelkar, a highly respected former oil secretary, and member of the Search Panel, wants four additional, private sector candidates of his choice to apply. “A date for the interviews,â€‌ we hear, “will be fixed when their CVs come in.

â€‌ Sixty-nine (69) people are learnt to have applied for the job, one of the most prestigious in the Indian public sector. However, criticism of the government’s handling of the process is mounting.

“How can they interview the same candidates who were not found suitable earlierâ€‌ asks one observer. “Has anything changed since thenâ€‌ See below short-listed candidates: RS Sharma, Director and acting CMD, ONGC Dr.
