INDIA SELF-SUFFICIENT IN DIESEL

Vol 3, PW 3 (03 Mar 99) News in Brief

The Oil Coordination Committee (OCC), attached to the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, has announced India will stop imports of High Speed Diesel after July 1999.

India is one of the biggest consumers of High Speed Diesel in Asia. Its decision to stop imports is based on extra refining capacity which will come on stream later this year.

The OCC said imports of kerosene will also be slashed from an average 1.5m tonnes to 300,000 tonnes.
