Work begins to rehabilitate Bombay High and Neelam

Vol 3, PW 24 (22 Dec 99) News in Brief

ONGCs Mumbai Business Regional Centre (MRBC) is set to begin work on the rehabilitation of the Bombay High.

Petrowatch learns ONGC has identified 10 oil wells in the Bombay High for gas shut-off with gel technology. Three of these wells have been treated with gel about two weeks back (early December), said a source.

The operation has been successful, but we have to watch if this is sustainable. If it sustains we see wider applications.

Dr Robert Lane, a former employee of Marathon Oil, is providing consultancy for the gas shut-off project. Meanwhile, Halliburton is undertaking similar work to resuscitate the ailing Neelam field.

Two wells have been treated successfully for gas shut-off, while four more wells (two each for gas shut-off and water shut-off) have been identified and will be treated by May 2000.
