Oil and gas production from south set to soar

Gas and crude production from the Krishna Godavari and Cauvery basins will increase sharply this fiscal over last.

On 4th October CP Saha, regional director, ONGC (south) told journalists crude production would be 800,000 tonnes over 522,000 last year and that gas production would be 2bn over 1.5bn last year. Saha said ONGC would soon commit 15m cm/d of gas to market from its Krishna Godavari and Cauvery fields.

He added that the Ramnad area could produce 1bn cubic metres of gas annually and is set emerge on "the gas-producing map" of India. "Out of 12 wells drilled here, nine are hydrocarbon bearing," he said.
