Tractebel will appoint Aban for Dahej-Amboli pipeline

EPC contractor Aban is set to win a Rs150cr ($33m) contract to construct a 24-inch, 45-km gas pipeline from Dahej in Gujarat to Amboli village in Ankleshwar, part of the state's proposed 1,507-km gas grid.

This report learns that consultants Tractebel of Belgium, appointed last year by Gujarat State Petronet to examine EPC bids for this stretch of the pipeline, is set to approve selection of Aban over rivals Punj Lloyd and Gammon. A formal announcement is expected at the end of this month.

Based in southern India, Aban is well known in the Middle East, where it is associated with a number of oil, gas and pipeline projects, particularlyin Saudi Arabia.
