Schlumberger strike threat on January 25th

Militant Hindu Shiv Sena-backed unions at Schlumberger are threatening an indefinite all-India strike from January 25th in support of demands that management reinstate five workers suspended six months ago.

A strike notice was sent on January 8th to management and concerned government officials in Mumbai. A spokesman said Halliburton employees would also be asked to strike in an expression of solidarity.

Schlumberger has about 320 employees across offices in Mumbai, Baroda, Rajahmundry, Kolkata, Nazira, Chennai and Delhi. In September last year unions called for similar strike action but it's understood the response was muted for lack of support.
