Tractebel wins Gujarat pipeline contract

Vol 4, PW 5 (12 Apr 00) News in Brief

Tractebel of Belgium has beaten Bechtel and HGW of Germany to win a Rs6cr ($1.4m) contract as consultant for a 135-km gas pipeline in Gujarat.

The pipeline - to run from Mora near the port of Hazira to Dahej - is for the supply of gas from the Hazira gasfield to state-owned Gujarat Alkalies and Chemicals. It will eventually be integrated into the proposed 3,500-km LNG gas grid.

Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation (GSPC) has also appointed Gaz de France (GdF) to undertake a feasibility study on the underground storage of gas in Gujarat. GdF's study will help identify potential locations among the state's depleting gasfields.
