South Asia will experience accelerated energy growth

A new report from the Energy Information Administration of the US Department of Energy describes the countries ofSouth Asia as the "fastest growing developing country region" in the world.

In its 'South Asia Regional Overview' - timed to coincide with a US-backed South Asian energy conference in Kathmandu on 6-8th March - the DOEwrites that, "South Asiais important to world energy markets because it contains close to one-quarter of the worlds population and is experiencing rapid energy demand growth." The DOE adds that this, "has increased the incentives for increased energy imports, foreign investment and regional energy cooperation".
