South Asia wins again with ONGC
Ahmedabad-based South Asia Consultancy is on a winning streak with ONGC contracts.
On September 27 (2024), ONGC issued an LoA to South Asia Consultancy to supervise operations at three onshore workover rigs at its Ahmedabad asset. On September 13 (2024), ONGC opened technical bids for the tender published on September 3 (2024).
ONGC received seven bids from Ahmedabad-based companies South Asia Consultancy, Western Oilfields and Aakash Exploration; Mehsana-based BSCC Exploration; Guwahati-based Indo Oil Data; Petrotech (not to be confused with the energy conference with the same name); and Technical Services. When ONGC opened price bids on September 24 (2024), South Asia bid the lowest, quoting Rs74,345 ($885) per rig/day.
Second was Technical Services with Rs87,358 ($1040) per rig/day. In third place was Petrotech, quoting Rs89,572 ($1070) per rig/day.
Next was Indo Oil Data, quoting Rs90,690 ($1080); Western Oilfield followed with Rs94,960 ($1131); BSCC Exploration quoted Rs95,198 ($1134); and Aakash was far behind with Rs130,626 ($1556). After negotiations, South Asia reduced its price to Rs53,528 ($637).
For two rigs, the contract duration will be nine months, but for the third rig, it will be six months. On May 22 (2024), ONGC awarded South Asia a three-year operations and management contract for its 150-tonne new-generation workover rig at its Rajahmundry asset.
South Asia beat two others to win the Rs8.04cr ($963,330) contract under an ONGC tender published on March 22 (2024). On June 13 (2024), we reported South Asia was the sole qualified bidder for another contract from ONGC, quoting Rs111.70cr ($13.4m) to supervise operations at 11 offshore drilling rigs operating on the east and west coasts.
