Larsen & Toubro wins Chennai Petroleum contract

Larsen & Toubro has won a Rs445cr ($92.7m) lump-sum turnkey contract from Chennai Petroleum to expand the capacity of its Manali refinery from 6.5m t/y to 9.5m t/y.

"This is a landmark contract, the largest ever LSTK contract awarded to L&T in the refinery sector," said a company statement. Larsen & Toubro won the contract against competing bids from South Korea's Dae Lim and Sharjah-based Petrofac.

Completion schedule is 24 months from January. "L&T has total responsibility including residual process engineering, detailed engineering, procurement, supply, fabrication, construction, commissioning and performance testing."
