ENI of Italy - the only global oil major with exploration acreage in India - has hired Compagnie Generale de Geophysique to shoot 2D and 3D seismic at its Andaman Sea block AN-DWN-2003/2.

During its Phase-I work programme operator ENI must shoot 5000-km 2D; 2000-sq km 3D; reprocess 381-km old 2D and drill three wells. Last week, ENI invited EoIs from service providers to begin exploration work on its two NELP-V blocks in India: AN-DWN-2003/2 and RJ-ONN-2003/1 in Rajasthan.

Suppliers of oil well cement, cementing additives and related services should submit EoIs by 25th August for both blocks. In Rajasthan, ENI is also in Phase-I and must drill four wells in addition to shooting 1335-sq km 3D, reprocess 1000-km old 2D and carry out geochemical surveys of 500 samples.

ENI has 34% of RJ-ONN-2003/1 with Cairn holding 40% and ONGC holding 36%. At AN-DWN-2003/2, ENI holds 40%, ONGC holds 45% and GAIL holds 15%.
