Fresh faces join three PSU boards

Several fresh faces joined the boards of Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals, Bharat Petroleum and ONGC this month (July).

On July 11, the cabinet's appointments committee appointed M Vinayakumar as director refineries MRPL and he took charge the same day. With more than 30 years experience in refineries, Vinayakumar also sits on the boards of ONGC Mangalore Petrochemicals and Shell-MRPL Aviation Fuels & Services.

His first job was with Hindustan Petroleum which he joined in 1982 before moving to MRPL in 1993 as manager projects. At BPCL, Harshad P Shah joined the board on July 16 after the oil ministry appointed him as an independent director on July 12.

Shah has a BSc in mathematics and has written 15 books on education. He was the vice-chancellor of the Children's University at Gandhinagar for three years.

At ONGC the oil ministry appointed Amitava Bhattacharyya as an independent director on July 19. Bhattacharyya, a physics graduate, was central information commissioner from 2016 to 2018 and has also held roles in the Gujarat government.

He works with a voluntary group fighting the trafficking of women and children in India and Southeast Asia.
