This week we should know who the six shortlisted candidates are for the job of ONGC director technical and field services, vacant since October 1 when Shashi Shanker became chairman.

On April 3 the PESB held a meeting to choose the final list of six ONGC candidates to call for interviews, likely to be held end-April. "ONGC sent 20 CVs to the PESB in February," says a well-placed source.

After screening CVs in March, he adds, the PESB selected 10 names which it will further trim down to six. These 10 candidates are AJ Morbale, executive director and head of the Neelam and Heera assets; Ashwini Nagia, executive director and head of the materials management department; Suresh Jandial, executive director and head of ONGC's Institute of Drilling Technology in Dehradun; Anand Mohan, executive director and head of the onshore engineering services group; Ved Vrat Mishra, group general manager (civil) based in Mehsana; RP Patel, group general manager (drilling) based in Dehradun; Narendra Asija, executive director (production) based in Uran; Arun Jaiswal, group general manager (drilling) based in Mumbai; Vinay Kumar Gupta, group general manager (drilling) based in Dehradun and NC Pandey, executive director and head of the Bokaro CBM asset.

"All the candidates are busy networking," says a source. "Most of the EDs on the list have made courtesy calls to the PESB.

The biggest challenge is to get called for interview. Otherwise all the networking is meaningless."
