ONGC dir. offshore Kakkar gets all-clear

Vol 21, PW 7 (11 Jan 18) News in Brief

ONGC executive director Rajesh Kakkar's Diwali gift was his victory in the race for the director offshore position.

His New Year's gift is all-important anti-corruption clearance from the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) which he received on December 28. Kakkar was appointed Officer on Special Duty (OSD) in the director offshore's office soon after.

He now awaits final approval from the cabinet's appointments committee, expected by January 15. "After CVC clearance,"says a source, "cabinet approval is usually just a formality." Kakkar replaces TK Sengupta who retired on December 31 after several farewell parties mid-December.

On January 5, ONGC replaced Kakkar as Mumbai High asset manager with PK Dileep, earlier Ankleshwar asset manager. SK Moitra, selected to become the next director onshore to replace VP Mahawar who steps down on February 28, was replaced as Bassein and Satellite fields asset manager by TK Bannerjee, head of ONGC's Mumbai-based Institute of Oil & Gas Production Technology.

Moitra awaits CVC clearance.
