McDermott was so thrilled to win a Reliance installation and pipe supply contract at the R-Series, Satellite and Other satellite fields that it threw a party at the Grand Hyatt in Kuala Lumpur on October 20.

"I am pleased to announce that McDermott ASA signed a Letter of Award (LoA) yesterday evening for the Reliance KG-D6 field development in India," reads the party invitation, sent by Hugh Cuthbertson, McDermott's VP Asia. "This is our first major win since relocating the regional HQ from Singapore (to Kuala Lumpur)." Cuthbertson added the celebration was to recognise the hard work and dedication of all staff and contractors "and to mark this important milestone." Industry sources believe this contract is worth around $700m but this could not be independently confirmed.

Reliance has contracted McDermott to install, hook up, and commission subsea equipment from the established offshore control and riser platform for the D1 and D3 fields in water depths of 100 metres towards deeper waters ranging from 1800-2150 metres at R-Series and 1200- 2000 metres at the Satellite and Other Satellite fields at KG-DWN-98/3. Work must be completed over two 'firm' seasons, each lasting from January to May in 2019 and 2020, and one 'optional' season from January to May 2021.

To win this contract McDermott beat Saipem, bidding alone, and TechnipFMC with Subsea7, after revised price bids were submitted mid-September.
