Under pressure Green Gas scouts for staff

Vol 20, PW 23 (10 Aug 17) News in Brief

GAIL and IndianOil gas retail joint venture Green Gas is under pressure to improve its performance after CNG customers complained of massive queues at its 12 filling stations in Lucknow in July.

On July 26 Green Gas advertised 13 new posts for assistant general managers, chief managers and contracts, finance, fire and safety, IT, instrumentation, marketing and procurement plus projects and planning managers/officers. "We're hiring managers to streamline our operations," says a company source.

Chartered and cost accountants, MBAs and graduates in mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and civil engineering with at least 60% marks and four to 16 years experience can apply. Lucknow saw unprecedented scenes at CNG stations following gas shortages end-July.

"Things reached a crisis point on July 28," says a source. "Even school-vans couldn't transport children." Green Gas is likely to add more dispensers at its established stations and plans to add four more CNG stations to ease the pressure.

Green Gas typically sells 400,000 cubic metres/month.
