All eyes on LNG bids for Chhara and Dhamra

After several extensions, bidders are hoping to finally get offers in to set up re-gasification facilities at the proposed Chhara LNG terminal in Gujarat and Dhamra LNG terminal in Orissa.

For the 5m t/y Chhara project, promoted by Shapoorji Pallonji and Hindustan Petroleum, technical and commercial bids are due by June 15, extended from the previous April 26 deadline. Companies shortlisted by project consultant Engineers India to send in offers are Toyo Engineering; CTCI with Cinda; Black & Veatch with Tata Projects; and Sener with AFCONS.

At the 5m t/y Dhamra project, promoted by Adani Energy, revised re-gas bids are due on June 20, extended from May 30. Black & Veatch, CTCI with Cinda and L&T are expected to bid.

Meanwhile bids to set up two Chhara LNG tanks of 200,000 cubic metre capacity each were received on May 20 from IHI with AFCONS and a consortium of Daewoo, POSCO and Vijay Tanks & Vessels. For the two 180,000 cubic metre Dhamra onshore LNG tanks, revised price bids were received by May 15 from IHI; L&T with Whessoe; Saipem and Mitsubishi.
