Indraprastha expands into Rewari

Vol 19, PW 26 (08 Sep 16) News in Brief

Indraprastha Gas is set to expand out of its home turf Delhi into Rewari in Haryana.

Indraprastha submitted a Rs1052.36cr ($158m) Performance Bank Guarantee to the PNGRB on August 18 after receiving an LoI confirming its authorisation to set up a retail gas network on August 9. It now gets 60 months of marketing exclusivity for the 1519-sq km area but must begin laying its gas pipeline network within 180 days or by February 5, 2017.

Indraprastha must lay 650-inch km of pipeline and connect 8902 households to its piped gas network within five years. Rewari saw keen competition under the sixth retail gas licensing round, with bids also received from Hindustan Petroleum, Gujarat State Petronet, IndianOil partnering Adani Gas, SKN partnering Haryana City Gas Distribution and a Mahesh Resources-led consortium.

The city, with a population of 141,000, is known for its steam locomotive museum. Indraprastha Gas supplies piped gas to over 660,000 homes and 1500 businesses in Delhi and the surrounding areas and operates 416 CNG stations.
