NEW PROJECT - oil pipeline from HPCL

Vol 16, PW 11 (13 Dec 12) News in Brief

Hindustan Petroleum and its consultant Worley Parsons will invite bids this month from companies that can supply 18-inch diameter, X-70 grade steel pipe for a proposed 438-km petroleum products pipeline from Rewari in Haryana to Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh.

HPCL proposed the pipeline last October (2011) and won PNGRB authorisation on November 20 this year. By March 2013 it hopes to invite bids from pipeline laying contractors for the estimated Rs1211cr ($223m) project, which it is targeting to commission by end-2015.

HPCL will feed petroleum products into the Rewari to Kanpur pipeline through its 1056-km Mundra to Delhi pipeline, passing through Rewari. HPCL plans to transport 7.9m t/y petroleum products through the pipeline, with an additional 1.59m t/y capacity set aside as ‘common carrier’ for other companies to use.

Worley Parsons was appointed PMC last month (November) while Mecon was appointed PMC for the Kanpur product terminal.
