GAIL plans 8 wells at CB-ONN-2010/11

Vol 19, PW 8 (17 Dec 15) News in Brief

As the new year dawns, GAIL will begin a Rs160cr ($24m) eight-well exploratory drilling campaign at onland Cambay basin block CB-ONN-2010/11, near the Reliance-operated CB-ONN-2003/1 block where 10 discoveries have been announced.

GAIL received the much awaited environmental clearance in November - eleven (11) months after a public hearing at Dugari village in Tarapur cleared the campaign on January 21 this year. The six-page clearance dated October 27 is signed by Lalit Bokolia, additional director in the environment ministry and addressed to GAIL manager K.

Anbazhagan. “We have started tendering for a rig and other oilfield services,” says GAIL, which is planning five ‘firm’ wells and three ‘contingent’ wells to depths ranging from 2000 metres to 2500 metres at this 131-sq km NELP-IX block sprawling across the Ahmedabad and Anand districts.
