Vol 18, PW 4 (09 Oct 14) News in Brief

GAIL wants a consultant to oversee its three-well drilling campaign at 131-sq km oil-prone NELP-IX block CB-ONN-2010/11.

Likely bidders expected to respond to the September 31 tender include Enquest Petro Solutions, Firstdrill, Petrofac affiliate SPD, Xodus Group, Deep Industries and Ajapa Integrated Project Management - all bid on July 23 for a separate PMC job at CB-ONN-2010/8 where GAIL also has a stake. “We want to award the contract by December (2014),” confirms GAIL.

Whoever wins will supervise drilling beginning April (2015) to TDs between 2000-2500 metres targeting the Babaguru, Kalol, Tarapur, Weathered Deccan Trap and Olpad formations plus sand and siltstones Cambay shale. GAIL has committed eight wells in Phase-I at CB-ONN-2010/11 but wants to begin by drilling three.

“We’ll drill the other five,” adds GAIL, “if we make a discovery.” Well locations will be fixed after GAIL interprets 131-sq km of 3D shot by Alpha Geo.
