WorleyParsons checks Shell Kakinada FEED

Vol 19, PW 3 (08 Oct 15) News in Brief

WorleyParsons has been asked by state-owned Andhra Pradesh Gas Development Corporation (APGDC) to check a Front End Engineering and Design (FEED) study done by APGDC’s partner Shell on a proposed 5m t/y FSRU LNG project off Kakinada.

WorleyParsons was “unofficially” informed on September 22 and has four weeks from the date a contract is signed to complete the assignment. Shell and APGDC earlier planned separate FSRUs at Kakinada but last year the projects were merged at the behest of Andhra Pradesh authorities.

Meanwhile, on September 25, Andhra authorities signed two MoUs related to the Rs1800cr ($275m) FSRU project with an 18-month deadline to complete the project. The first MoU is the terminal company agreement (TCA) between APGDC (48%), GdF Suez (26%) and Shell (26%) to set up the terminal.

The second one between GAIL (48%), GdF Suez (26%) and Shell (26%) is for LNG sourcing and R-LNG marketing.
