Only two qualify for Baramura 3D shoot

Vol 18, PW 6 (06 Nov 14) News in Brief

ONGC will most likely scrap and re-issue a $21m tender to shoot 250-sq km 3D at the Baramura Bulge area in Tripura.

At least three companies need to have passed the technical round but only two of six companies that bid on September 19 met the technical criteria: IOT Infrastructure, Asian Oilfield, Alpha Geo, SK Projects, Quippo and Ozone Oil & Gas. ONGC won’t tell bidders who passed, but all assume it is Asian Oilfield, Alpha Geo, or IOT Infrastructure.

Another contractor adds bidders told ONGC work could be completed only by the April 2015 deadline if contract award was before October 15. Many expect the re-issued tender to carry a lighter workload.

In a separate $83m tender to shoot 2010-sq km ‘full-fold’ 3D in the Vygreswaram area of Andhra Pradesh, ONGC received technical clarifications on November 3 from bidders IOT Infrastructure, Asian Oilfield, Alpha Geo, Pangea, Quippo, Houston based Geokinetics and Russia-based Geotech.
