Prabhat Singh stays at GAIL until 2016

GAIL director marketing Prabhat Kumar Singh is a happy man.

Oil minister Dharmendra Pradhan approved a 21-month extension to Singh's term on August 7. Singh was earlier meant to step down on February 28, 2015 after completing five years in the job.

“Singh’s file is at the Department of Personnel and Training,” confirms a ministry source. “In the next 15 days his appointment should be confirmed.

” Once he gets approval from the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Singh, 57, will remain as director marketing until he retires at 60 or until November 30, 2016. PESB officials reviewed performance reports over five years before reaching their decision.

Singh received anti-corruption clearance on July 25. A civil engineer and a graduate of IIT Kanpur, he is in charge of gas sourcing, negotiating prices, gas marketing, and selling gas to industrial and commercial customers.
