Gujarat State Petronet advertised on July 9 to fill the new post of chief operating officer (COO) created to strengthen the management of its expanding gas transmission business.

BSE-listed GSPL is looking for an engineer who is at least 50 years old with 25 years’ experience in cross country pipeline projects. On offer is a salary ranging from Rs60 lakhs to Rs1cr/year ($100,000 to $167,000), according to a company source.

Like most recent appointments at GSPC group companies, the COO will be on a fixed-term contract, with the option of a full time contract if appropriate. “Our ideal candidate should be someone from the oil and gas sector who can take on challenges and goals while scaling up operations,” we hear.

Former ONGC director (offshore) NK Mitra took charge as the first COO at GSPL parent company GSPC in March 2013 on an annual salary of Rs1.5cr ($250,000). CVs for the new COO post must be sent in to GSPL by July 30.
