Vol 17, PW 19 (08 May 14) News in Brief

Bharat PetroResources, the upstream arm of Mumbai-based refiner Bharat Petroleum, awarded a contract this month to Gurgaon-based Samit Spectrum EIT to process 10-lkm 2D and a 42-sq km blanket 3D survey of its CB-ONN-2010/8 block in Gujarat.

“We have the LoA,” confirms Sanjeev Mittal, managing director of Samit, “and will start working as soon as we get the data.” A bidder present at the opening of price bids on April 28 says Samit quoted around Rs20 lakhs ($33,300).

Hyderabad-based Alphageo is presently shooting the blanket 3D survey with an expected completion date in early June. “We want to complete the processing work in the next three months,” says BPRL, which will drill eight wells, targeting the Olpad and Kalol formations, with a rig tender for a 1400-hp rig expected shortly.

CB-ONN-2010/8 sits near the producing Indrora, Bakrol, Wavel, Sabarmati and Gamij fields. BPRL (25%) shares the block with GAIL (25%), Engineers India (20%), Bharat Forge Infrastructure (20%) and Monnet Ispat (10%).
