Four companies are competing to win a Sintex Industries contract to drill 15-wells at its 144-sq km NELP-VIII onland block CB-ONN-2009/7 near Ahmedabad.

Sintex received bids on February 21 for a 1000-hp rig from John Energy, Essar, Ahmedabad-based Rasson Energy and Quippo Oil & Gas. “We’ve received bids,” confirms Sintex.

“We’ve asked Quippo for more documents as the bid was incomplete. If Quippo fails to submit the documents, it might be disqualified.

” Sintex needs a rig and services to drill five ‘firm’ and 10 ‘optional’ wells to depths ranging from 1500 metres to 2500 metres. “We're currently evaluating technical bids,” adds Sintex.

“Price bids will be opened by end-April.” Sintex aims to begin drilling by mid-2014 at the earliest, after the mandatory environment clearance through a public hearing.

Sintex (100%) signed the PSC on June 30, 2010 and was granted a four year PEL by Gujarat on January 4, 2011.
