DIPLA " one LNG cargo coming

Vol 17, PW 12 (30 Jan 14) News in Brief

Reliance is expected to bring in a Qatari LNG spot cargo at Hazira in the first week of February.

GAIL, Petronet-LNG and GSPC are also scouting for spot cargoes. “But supply is tight,” we hear.

Blame strong winter demand in Japan and South Korea and aggressive buying in Europe. Still, spot prices have begun to fall for February delivery by 30 to 40 cents.

“But at more than $16/mmbtu, spots remain expensive for Indian buyers.” For more on these and other LNG cargoes at Dahej, Hazira, Dabhol and Kochi write to info@petrowatch.com for details of our LNG-DIPLA live tracking service.

DIPLA’s last alert on January 24 announced the arrival of Marshall Islands-flagged tanker Mesaimeer at Hazira with 211,095-cubic metres (cm) of LNG from Qatar Gas, bought by SITME for Reliance at $16.90 to $17.40/mmbtu. Between December 1 and 31, India imported 910,227 cm of spot, medium and short-term LNG at an average price of $15.82/mmbtu.
