Greatship Ahalya will go to Mumbai High

Vol 16, PW 14 (07 Feb 13) News in Brief

Greatship is set to mobilise its Offshore Support Vessel (OSV) Greatship Ahalya to ONGC’s Mumbai High field in March this year.

ONGC hired Ahalya on January 23 on a three year contract, beginning from the second week of March, at $10,000/day. “We have applied to the defence ministry for clearances (to mobilise the OSV) on January 29,” confirms a Greatship source.

“We expect to receive it by end-February.” Ahalya, an anchor handling tug and supply vessel, will provide support at ONGC blocks off India’s east and west coasts in the Mumbai, Krishna Godavari, Kerala Konkan, Gujarat-Kutch-Saurashtra and Cambay basins.

ONGC floated an e-tender on September 29, 2012 to hire 13 vessels and received bids in mid-November. Price bids were opened on January 3.

Besides Ahalya, ONGC has hired Greatship’s Greatship Disha at $12,000/day. It has also hired five vessels from TAG Offshore, two from Shipping Corporation of India, and one from Sagar Shipping.
