ONGC extends Sagar Pragati bid deadline

Vol 16, PW 9 (15 Nov 12) News in Brief

ONGC has extended its deadline from November 23 to January 10 to receive bids to convert jack-up Sagar Pragati into a Mobile Offshore Production Unit (MOPU).

But tender documents are still on sale until November 23. ONGC wants to award the contract by March 15 next year and needs the MOPU by November 1, 2014 for installation by the C-24-P well platform at the C-Series fields off Mumbai.

Twenty-two bidders are competing. In a separate $80m tender to upgrade MOPU Sagar Laxmi, bidders finally received technical queries from ONGC on November 1.

“We replied by November 8,” says a bidder. With bids submitted on August 24, it remains to be seen if ONGC can meet its deadline to award the contract on November 15.

Bidders include Pipavav Defence & Offshore, L&T, AFCONS with Western India Shipyard, Essar with Sembawang and Chinese companies Daeyang and Dalian with US-based Triune.
