Vol 11, PW 23 (15 May 08) News in Brief

Gorgon LNG consortium leader Chevron still hasn’t taken a Final investment Decision on the 10m t/y project off Barrow Island but that isn’t stopping partner ExxonMobil continuing price talks with Petronet-LNG for its 2.5m t/y share of the project.

Exxon’s marketing team led by Robert Zammit and including new country manager Paul Kleijnen was in Delhi over two days from May 13 to May 14 for talks with Petronet-LNG, which wants LNG from Gorgon for its upcoming 2.5m t/y terminal at Kochi. “Many issues need to be resolved,â€‌ we hear.

“Lots of back-to-back agreements come before a Gas Sale Agreement.â€‌ Petronet-LNG promoters Bharat Petroleum, GAIL and Indian Oil were also present during talks that ended at 5pm on May 14, among them BPCL executive director Subir Chatterjee, IOC executive director Chandan Dasgupta and Rajeev Mathur from GAIL.

Has a price been agreed for Gorgon LNG “It is still too early,â€‌ we hear. “More work needs to be done.
