NTPC interviews postponed again

Vol 11, PW 16 (13 Dec 07) News in Brief

Concern about the anxiety of 11 shortlisted candidates is clearly not high in the thoughts of the power ministry as it again postpones interviews to find a replacement for NTPC chief Thyagrajan Sankarlingam who retires on May 1 next year.

In our last issue we wrote with confidence how PESB interviews for the post were confirmed for December 6. How wrong we were! “Interviews have been postponed till December 17,â€‌ reports a well-placed source.

No official reason has been given for the postponement, but it is believed to have some connection to a clash with the travel plans of power secretary Anil Razdan. This is the second postponement of interviews since the selection process started.

Is there likelihood that the interviews will be postponed again “No,â€‌ concludes a well-placed source. “This time the interviews will definitely be conducted on December 17.

â€‌ Director operations Chandan Roy and director commercial RS Sharma are favourites for the job.
