Bidders for Karnataka Power Corporations 1.5m t/y natural gas or LNG tender have kept to the 24th March deadline for submission of techno-commercial bids.

PETROWATCH learns KPCL received bids from three of the four pre-qualified parties: Reliance (natural gas); an alliance of Petronet-LNG, ONGC and Bharat Petroleum (LNG); and an alliance of Indian Oil and Petronas (LNG). GAIL (LNG) was the only pre-qualified company that did not submit a bid.

We are evaluating the bids, reveals a source. This will take at least a month because a lot of documentation is involved.

KPCL will check if the bids meet its various requirements. Only after this exercise is completed will the management decide if discussions are needed with the bidders.

When will price bids be invited Too early to say now. But not before a month.

KPCL wants the gas or LNG over 17 years to fire the expansion of its Bidadi power station.
