Bharat Petroleum is all set to challenge Hindustan Petroleums proposed 1,000-km Mundra to Delhi product pipeline.

On 29th March, BPCLs board approved a proposal to extend the companys existing 609-km Mumbai-Manmad-Indore pipeline to Piyala, a small town near Delhi. Let us see which pipeline comes first, says a top BPCL official.

We dont see any clash as our pipeline route is different from HPCLs. HPCLs proposed Mundra to Delhi pipeline will pass through Gujarat, Rajasthan, Punjab and Haryana while BPCLs proposed pipeline will travel across Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.

BPCLs pipeline extension project envisages laying an additional 800-km from Manglia, near Indore in Madhya Pradesh to Piyala near Palwal in Haryana. We have extra land to spare at our LPG bottling plant in Palwal where the pipeline will end, he said.

BPCL and HPCL want to set up pipelines in the northern region to reduce their dependence on Indian Oil for product supplies.
