PK Mishra new ONGC chief at Ahmedabad

Vol 20, PW 8 (12 Jan 17) News in Brief

ONGC's Ahmedabad asset has a new boss after PK Mishra took over as executive director and asset manager on January 2, replacing Mahendra Pratap who retired on December 31.

"Mishra took charge on January 2 but his official orders came in on January 3," we hear. Mishra was earlier head of ONGC's Ahmedabad drilling services team.

Born in October 1957, he is from Orissa and is a trained mechanical engineer with experience working at Nazira and Sibsagar in upper Assam, Dehradun in Uttarakhand and Rajahmundry in Andhra Pradesh. When contacted, Mishra was unavailable and busy with the ONGC stall at the Vibrant Gujarat summit.

"He is one of ONGC's finest drillers," says a company source. "But this is his first administrative job." Mishra's drilling prowess will be tested as ONGC embarks on an ambitious programme to increase production, but he only has 10 months to retirement so must work fast.

The Ahmedabad asset produces 3700 tonnes/day (25,900 b/d) for IOC's Koyali refinery.
