Delhi-based oilfield service provider Alinex Energy wants to enter the onland drilling business.

“We are in talks with a few rig operators about acquiring onland rigs,” confirms an Alinex source. On February 7, Alinex visited the Ahmedabad office of Adani-controlled Black Pearl Services to learn about its stacked 2000-hp rig Black Pearl Rig 1 which has been lying idle at Adani Welspun’s Cambay block CB-ONN-2004/5 for the last two years.

“We had a discussion with Alinex about inspecting the rig,” says a Black Pearl source. “Alinex wants to use the rig in northeast India and wants to confirm if the rig components can easily be dismantled for transportation as it is difficult to carry all the rig components at one go in the hilly terrain.

” Black Pearl is also talking to John Energy and to two or three companies in the Middle East about selling the rig. Besides Black Pearl Services, Alinex is talking to Shiv Vani about buying two of its rigs in Gujarat.
