Virtue-1 to mobilise this month

Vol 17, PW 13 (13 Feb 14) News in Brief

Jack-up Virtue-1 owned by Delhi-based Jindal Drilling will mobilise for ONGC by end-February to begin a five-year contract for which she was hired in November 2013 at $114,000/day plus 12.36% service tax.

Virtue-1 came off her previous five-year ONGC contract on December 18 and, as required by the Oil Industry Safety Directorate, is undergoing ‘class’ certifications and inspections off Mumbai. “Third party inspections began on February 6," says Jindal.

"Virtue-1 should be ready in a couple of weeks.” Fellow Jindal jack-up Jindal Star and Greatship’s Greatdrill Chetna were also hired in the same tender at the same rates.

ONGC deployed Star, built in Sharjah by Lamprell and delivered on November 6, to Mumbai High South after she was mobilised to Indian waters in mid-January. Chetna, also in the Mumbai High, reached her drilling location on January 16.

Her last contract was with the Panna, Mukta, and Tapti consortium.
