Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi's effort to promote his state is paying hefty dividends.

Australian renewable energy company Aztom Energy Australia appears ready to switch its focus from Andhra Pradesh to Gujarat with the setting up of a solar energy park in Gujarat. An Aztom team led by Brisbane-based CEO Craig Nalder met Gujarat energy secretary DJ Pandian at Gandhinagar on April 22 to discuss the plan.

“We are very interested in Gujarat,” Nalder tells PETROWATCH. “We’ve heard a lot about Gujarat and Modi.

” Accompanying Nalder were Hyderabad-based founder director Dr Jawahar Thomas and Sydney-based director Alex Brasier. In February, Aztom joined 184 other companies to bid in a tender to buy 1339.5-MW of solar generated electricity in Andhra Pradesh.

Modi’s promotion of Gujarat is relentless. On April 30, he met the Canadian high commissioner to India Stewart Beck and Swiss ambassador Linus Von Castelmur in quick succession at his residence.
