Shiv Vani wins Sintex 3D contract

Vol 16, PW 20 (02 May 13) News in Brief

Gujarat-based Sintex Oil & Gas has awarded a Rs9cr ($1.6m) seismic contract to Shiv Vani, which IOT Infrastructure & Energy had to give up after a fire destroyed its equipment.

Shiv Vani received the LoA to shoot 68-sq km 3D at onland Gujarat NELP-VIII block CB-ONN-2009/2 on April 25. "We will begin mobilising crew in August," says Shiv Vani.

"Work will begin after the monsoon season in September. The job should take around two months." Sintex issued a LoA on March 25 to Mumbai-based IOT to begin work from mid-April.

But on March 28 an electrical short circuit sparked a fire that destroyed IOT's seismic equipment at Essar Oil's NELP-VI Assam block AA-ONN-2004/5 forcing IOT to cancel the Sintex contract. Block CB-ONN-2009/2 is in the northern part of the Ahmedabad-Mehsana tectonic area, which has the Modhera, Asjol, Kalol, Jotna, Sobhasan, Bechraji, Balol, Lanwa and south Patan fields.
