NTPC seismic tender

Vol 14, PW 26 (30 Jun 11) News in Brief

NTPC still hasn’t secured the all-important Petroleum Exploration Licence but that isn’t stopping the state-owned power generation company inviting bids for a blanket 3D survey of a 165-sq km onland block in Gujarat.

Alpha Geo, Shiv Vani, Geofizyka Torun, Asian Oilfield Services and KCS are among the contractors expected to bid in this tender for CB-ONN-2009/5, issued on June 3. “Some Russian companies might also bid,” we hear.

NTPC will continue to sell tender documents until July 7 and wants interested companies to submit technical and price bids on August 1. NTPC earlier planned to issue this tender in February 2011 but postponed plans as it hadn’t secured the PEL from Gujarat state authorities.

“We expect to receive the PEL soon,” adds an NTPC source late last week. By June next year NTPC plans to issue a tender to hire one 750-hp rig and one 1000-hp rig to drill seven Phase-I committed exploration wells at CB-ONN-2009/5, where it is operator with a 100% stake.
