ONGC tenders for 5 rigs for Mumbai High work

Vol 9, PW 6 (30 Jun 05) News in Brief

ONGC will issue a tender for five jack-up rigs next month for the Mumbai offshore.

Four of the five are for renewals of contracts that get completed next month: Noble Drillings Ed Holt, Transoceans Trident-II, Jagsons Mat Drill and Pride Internationals Pride Pennsylvania. We understand the proposal from the Mumbai region has yet to go before ONGCs executive purchase committee.

The fifth rig is a re-tender of ONGCs more than one-year-old requirement of one Freddy Goldman rig. On the 17th March bid closing date only Transocean and Noble Drilling submitted offers.

Transocean offered three rigs: JT Angel, Harvey H Ward and Roger W Mowell. Noble offered Noble George McLeod.

The offers were valid for 60 days but when ONGC asked both companies to confirm offers before opening the price bids neither of them could do so as their rigs had found work elsewhere. ONGC had no choice but to close the tender.
