AP wants D6 gas for power stations

Andhra Pradesh authorities are lobbying on behalf of four gas-fired power stations that want D6 gas: Sriba Industries in Chigurukota village, which wants gas for its 30-MW power station; RVK Energy in Nandigama town, for its 32.7-MW station; Silkroad Sugar at Vakalapudi near Kakinada for a 35-MW station; and LVS Power at Pendurthi village near Vizag for a 55-MW station.

Andhra Pradesh authorities submitted their request in April, which found its way onto the agenda of the last cabinet meeting called to carve-up future supplies of D6 gas to industry, held on October 27. “Ministers said the power ministry should examine this request,â€‌ reports a source, “and make recommendations to the oil ministry which will then decide on the â€کfirm allocation’ of D6 gas supplies for these stations at 75% PLF.

â€‌ To appease local politicians, Andhra Pradesh power stations receive enough D6 gas to operate at 75% PLF; while those outside the state receive supplies at just 70% PLF.
