Vol 12, PW 26 (04 Jun 09) News in Brief

GAIL believes it can complete a new 610-km gas pipeline from the expanded Petronet-LNG terminal at Dahej five months ahead of schedule.

“Officially the completion date is October 2010,â€‌ reveals GAIL. “But we want to complete it by June or July 2010.

â€‌ Work on the Rs4403cr ($979m) 48-inch, 54m cm/d capacity pipeline from Dahej to Vijaipur, known as DVPL-II, is set to begin by September or October this year after GAIL selects a pipeline laying contractor by July this year. “We will award the contract soon,â€‌ confirms GAIL.

“Right now we are carrying out pre-project activities like surveys.â€‌ Belgium-based Suez Tractebel is Project Management Consultant and is evaluating bids from pipeline laying contractors for DVPL-II, which will run parallel to DVPL-I, a 42-inch pipeline, also connecting the Petronet-LNG terminal at Dahej.

Running alongside DVPL-I and soon-to be laid DVPL-II pipeline is the 36-inch and 2700-km long HBJ with 33.4m cm/d capacity.
