GAIL interviews for new director HR

Vol 12, PW 24 (07 May 09) News in Brief

Up to 40 people have applied to become director human resources at GAIL – vacant since last July when MR Hingnikar, former director human resources and one time acting GAIL chairman was denied an extension following a vigilance probe, which recommended prosecution.

PETROWATCH learns the Public Enterprises Selection Board will carry out interviews across three days on May 18, 19 and 20 to accommodate the high volume of interest. Five internal candidates stand the best chance: SK Singh, CA Rashid, J.

Wason, AK Rudra and SL Raina. “Singh has (GAIL chairman) Choubey’s blessings,â€‌ chirps a wag.

“But Raina is close to the political establishment; ML Fotedar (a Congress veteran) is his maternal uncle.â€‌ Others doubt Choubey’s â€کblessings’ will be of any use to Singh.

“Choubey’s blessings do not matter anymore,â€‌ we hear. “He is chairman for the next two months only.

What matters is who gets (chairman designate) BC Tripathi’s blessings.â€‌ Tripathi, it seems, is not disclosing his favourite(s) just yet.
