Vol 12, PW 23 (23 Apr 09) News in Brief

Hyderabad-based Sairama Engineering and partners Megha Engineering and Volgograd Neftegazstroi of Russia have begun a pre-engineering survey to upgrade surface facilities at the Lakwa and Lakhmani fields in Assam under a Rs2378cr ($528m) contract from ONGC.

This week a contract will be signed formally awarding the project to the consortium but preliminary work began soon after a project meeting on April 10. “The pre-engineering survey will identify the scope of work and should be completed by end-June,â€‌ we hear.

This will be followed by detailed engineering drawings for civil construction at each site with civil work slated to begin in October to meet a March 16, 2013 completion deadline. “We have already submitted the performance bank guarantee of Rs239cr ($49m),â€‌ adds a consortium source.

ONGC expects production at Lakwa and Lakhmani to jump sharply to 25,000 b/d oil and 2m cm/d gas from present levels of 13,000 b/d and 846,000 cm/d.
