Tractebel DFR for Mundra LNG plant

Vol 12, PW 6 (07 Aug 08) News in Brief

Tractebel will soon be ready with a Detailed Feasibility Report (DFR) for Gujarat’s third LNG receiving terminal after Dahej and Hazira.

PETROWATCH hears project promoters GSPC and Adani hired Tractebel in mid-June to carry out a DFR for a proposed LNG terminal at Adani-operated Mundra port with a three-month deadline for submission. But project sources believe Tractebel will be ready with the DFR later, by end-September.

“Nobody will take the Mundra project seriously unless we start making serious investments,â€‌ we hear. “Too much loose talk about LNG terminals at Ennore, Pipavav and Haldia has made people cautious.

â€‌ GSPC and Adani have already identified a 75-acre area of land on which to build the LNG terminal and by the end of this year want to award a consultancy for marine studies. Basic engineering at the project site is also imminent.

All that remains is for GSPC (50%) and Adani (25%) to identify a third partner and secure LNG supplies.
