Total has appointed Christophe Miaux as its new country manager for India to replace Jean-Pierre Junqua who is re-deployed to Johannesburg.

Miaux, who has experience of LNG from working at Yemen-LNG, assumes his new position at the New Friends Colony HQ of Total in Delhi on 11th June. Junqua, whose four-year stint in India began on 12th June 2003, leaves the next day.

During a farewell function on 30th May, Junqua advised Miaux to read â€کFreedom at Midnight’, â€کCity of Joy’ and learn the rules of cricket if he wants to understand India. Junqua cites Total’s acquisition of a 26% stake in the Hazira LNG terminal as a highlight of his stay in India.

“Between 1st January and 15th July this year we will have brought in 14 LNG cargoes,â€‌ Junqua tells us. “On average that’s two cargoes a month.

â€‌ Another achievement, cites Junqua, is Total’s JV with Hindustan Petroleum to build an underground LPG cavern at Vizag, which will receive first LPG in August.
